Gina Caruso, Chicago Department of Planning and Development,
Amy Campbell, Howard SSA Manager for DevCorp North,
and Paul Zelmezak, S.B. Friedman & Company give local property
and business owners the opportunity to learn more about the SSA
and to express their opinions concerning the reconstitution of the SSA.

The Howard SSA provides enhanced maintenance activities, safety programs,
commercial attraction and retention programs, business technical support and
the business improvement program.

The SSA would continue to be funded through a nominal tax levy on real estate
within the following general boundaries:
- Howard Street (Ridge to Sheridan)
- Paulina Street (Rogers to Jonquil)
- Rogers Avenue (Greenview to Ashland)
- Gateway Centre Plaza

Police seek leads in Rogers Park shooting

A 17-year-old was critically wounded in a Rogers Park shooting last week, police said.
The victim, Julio Hernandez, was approached last Thursday shortly after midnight by a white van in the 6900 block of Paulina, police said. Someone in the van fired two or three shots at Hernandez, a suspected gang member. He was hit once in the back and transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. More.....
