Disabled housing planned for Rogers Park
Chi Town Daily News- In hopes that other developers and building owners will do the same, Marty Cerney of Chicago Greystone is pushing a plan to provide 12 affordable, handicapped accessible apartments in Rogers Park. The units, one and two bedroom apartments, will rent for $745 and $945 a month. The unused basement space will be transformed into totally accessible living space, complete with extra wide doors, bars in the bathrooms, thoughtful layouts, and ramps or lifts in the entryways that will be separate from those used by the other residents. Alderman Joe Moore and the CTA will hold an informational meeting regarding the Howard Elevated Station renovation on Wed. May 24th, 7 p.m., Pottawattomie Park Fieldhouse, 7340 N. Rogers. The meeting will provide a project overview and timeline, information on construction issues and information on possible employment opportunities for union card holders in the building trades and job training possibilities.

Representatives of the Chicago Transit Authority, the Chicago Urban League and Mc Hugh Construction, the project’s general contractor, will be available to inform the community of the status of the project, discuss the hiring process and answer specific questions on a range of issues, including:

· Customer Service
· Job Training/Building Trades/Construction Hiring
