CPS Freezes Administrative Salaries, But $100 Million Deficit Remains
CBS- The Chicago Public Schools has announced that the salaries of more than 1,300 central office administrators will be frozen for the next budget year, a move that does not apply to principals and assistant principals, who will receive the same 4 percent raise as teachers next year, according to a release from CPS.
The move will still leave a budget deficit of more than $100 million for the next fiscal year.

When the humor is no longer good
Medill/Chi Town Daily-Ice cream trucks blaring loud music late at night are disrupting residential neighborhoods and raising suspicions that some vendors may be selling drugs instead of frozen treats.
Ald. Manuel Flores (1st) at Wednesday's City Council meeting proposed tougher penalties for ice cream trucks and other mobile food dispenser vehicles that play music after 7 p.m . They can continue to sell after that time, but with the music turned off.

Cabrini on the Screen
Chicagoist-Shot over a period of five years from 2001 to 2006, the film shows images of violence, police confrontations and rhyme battles in addition to remembrances of friends who have died. The
Chicago Housing Authroity objects to the film’s content on the grounds that it portrays only the gang activity within the area and is not how the majority of its residents live. The CHA “also said they do not condone guns, drugs or violence.” Um, yeah. Thanks for clearing that up. More....
